Voice of the Gompa Lhasa Apso Preservation Program

Gompa Lhasa Apso Trust established

Ancient Treasure

Julie Timbers with Katu, Vickie Kuhlmann with Dorje, Debby Rothman with Kiki and Drepung.

September 10, 2005 marked the premier screening of a Lunchhouse Production, Ancient Treasure. The audience journeyed into the mists of ancient Tibet, visiting the origins of the Gompa Lhasa Apso, ending with an exhibition of several Gompa dogs. Imported from Nepal, they represent the breed as it lived for centuries among the monks in Tibetan monasteries. As such, they provide a rich and diverse gene pool, and insights into management of small population genetics.

A Night to Remember
Tibet - Revisiting Our Past

October 20, 2004 a group of six Gompa Lhasa Apsos made their first public appearance to a standing room only crowd, mostly consisting of members of the American Lhasa Apso Club. The presentation was held in the Great Hall. Its high walls, invisible ceiling and longer than wide layout set the stage.

Left to right. Arlene Miller with Nyalu, Cecile W. Clover, Debby Rothman with Drepung, Lori Petsche with Tamdin, Vickie Kuhlmann with Dorje and Julie Timbers (and below) holding Ponya.
