The Internal
Database
|
|
Dogs within the Preservation
Program are registered with the United Kennel Club,
founded in 1898, the second oldest and second
largest all-breed registry in the USA.
The internal database contains records,
including UKC#s and GLAPP#s, of dogs being used to perpetuate the genetic lineage of
the Gompa Lhasa Apso and their offspring. With a
comprehensive set of health and physical characteristics
categories, the database is designed for analysis and
study and tracks individual dogs through the course of
their lives.

The External
Registry Procedures
|
|
|
External registry
procedures were developed in 2001 with assistance from
the Head Registrar of the Society for the Perpetuation
of the Desert-Bred Saluki, an AKC recognized domestic
registry. Procedures follow guidelines recently
approved by AKC for use of the Foundation Stock ServiceŽ by the American
Tibetan Mastiff Association for recording imports not currently registrable with
the American Kennel Club.
Future incorporation of
region-of-origin Lhasa Apsos into the Program's small
population management program will follow these
procedures:
