In a romantic and
stirring account, Michel Peissel describes his experiences exploring
one of the most rugged and least known regions of the world - a true
lost horizon in the Himalayas. On the very roof of the world lies
the small inaccessible land of Mustang, or Lo, as it is known to the
few who have heard of it. Its people, the Lobas, of Tibetan stock,
do not use the wheel...they still believe that the earth is
flat...yet the enjoy a highly developed civilization with great
castles, fortified towns and large monasteries, teeming with the
mysterious life of an unspoiled, rich, mediaeval society.
