The finest
study on the breed available! This original version is a
great compilation of information, obviously the result
of years of research motivated by a love of this unique
breed.
From a
review by Jean Kausch Fergus, published in June/July 1979 Lhasa Apso
Reporter: The Complete Lhasa
Apso by Norman and Carolyn Herbel, has just been
released by Howell Book House. It is an amazing 304 page
work. The quality of the paper, photo reproduction (over
300 pictures) and type make it a work of art. And the
deep and intimate knowledge of the authors; long
association with the breed is readily apparent. It is
presented in an hones, factual way with no bias for or
against any line (always a consideration when a
successful breeder writes a book on his or her own
breed!) and a very complete overall picture of the breed
and its history is presented including 17 pages of
careful explanation of the breed standard that is both
invaluable and thought provoking.
The photographs in the Herbel book also
include many important dogs in our breed's foundation. However, the emphasis
in text and photos is on more recent winners, producers and history, giving
the reader a more accurate yardstick by which to measure his own stock. The
information in the text is very specific to the Lhasa, and includes
up-to-date records on kennels, winners, producers, specialty show results
and breed club accomplishments. |
